Call America's history is more than 20 years in the making. In 1983, a company that would eventually be named Call America, entered the telecommunications industry that had just changed due to the break up of AT&T. From its local beginnings, Call America grew to serve businesses throughout California and was eventually purchased by GST Telecom. The assets of GST were purchased by Time Warner Telecom. In 2002, Jeff Buckingham formed Anew Telecommunications Corporation DBA Call America. His vision is to continue Call America as the only San Luis Obispo-based telecommunications company serving local businesses.
